Baritone

The British baritone Roderick Williams studied singing at the Guildhall School of Music in London. He has become one of the most sought-after baritones of today, with a broad repertoire ranging from baroque to world premieres. He has won numerous awards in international competitions, including the Great Grimsby Competition and the Kathleen Ferrier Competition. In 2016, he received the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Singer of the Year Award.

Recently, he appeared as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at English National Opera. He also performed the title role in Britten’s Billy Budd at Opera North and sang the role of Elijah in Mendelssohn’s oratorio of the same name at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Additionally, he appeared as Toby in Michel van der Aa’s Sunken Garden. Alongside his singing career, he is also active as a composer of choral works.
