Edo Wijnen

Edo Wijnen was born in Deurne in Belgium. He studied at the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp and joined the Dutch National Ballet in 2010 as an adspirant. He was quickly promoted to the corps de ballet and then to coryphée, grand sujet and, in 2015, soloist. In recent years, he has danced in various leading roles, both in the classical repertoire and in contemporary choreographies by Hans van Manen, Ted Brandsen, David Dawson, Wayne McGregor and Krzysztof Pastor, among others.

Edo has already won a number of major prizes, including the Prix de Lausanne (2009) and the Youth America Grand Prix (2010). In 2017 he was nominated for the Swan for 'Most impressive dance performance' for his role in Citizen Nowhere by David Dawson. In 2019 he won the Alexandra Radius Prize, partly for his once again sublime performance of this role.
