Saimir Pirgu figures among the brightest stars in today’s operatic firmament. He has sung at many prestigious venues, including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, The Royal Opera in London and Opéra national de Paris. Apart from starring roles in operas such as Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Gounod’s Faust at Opernhaus Zürich, Bizet’s Carmen at Deutsche Oper Berlin and Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Pirgu has established himself as an esteemed concert singer, who has sung Verdi’s Messa da Requiem already more than once. For instance, with Riccardo Muti and the Wiener Philharmoniker at the Salzburg Festival, with Mariss Jansons and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Münich and with Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia at the Vienna Musikverein. With Dutch National Opera, the Albanian tenor has previously sung the role of Il Duca in Verdi’s Rigoletto
