Mythology: Lecture and Open Masterclass by Pierre Audi
Tuesday 1 November Pierre Audi, Director of Dutch National Opera will address the subject of Mythology in his work as a music theatre maker in a lecture in the University Theatre.
After the lecture, he will give a masterclass, in which three groups - consisting of Dramaturgy students from the University of Amsterdam and young singers and stage directors - will prepare short opera scenes on mythological subjects. Pierre Audi will supervise these young opera makers and guide them in the process of staging the individual scenes. The lecture and masterclass take place as part of his appointment as Honorary Fellow Music Theatre at the University of Amsterdam.
The fellowship is an initiative of the Faculty of Humanities of the UvA and Dutch National Opera, and is made possible thanks to the Vereniging Vrienden van De Nationale Opera.
The duration of the lecture by Pierre Audi is approximately 30 minutes. The duration of one scene or workshop during the Masterclass is circa 45 minutes. After every workshop of the Masterclass there will be a short intermission.
- 10:00 - 10:30: Lecture Pierre Audi on Mythology
- 10:45 - 11:30: Scene I: Carissimi’s Jephte
- 11:45 - 12:30: Scene II: Mozart’s Idomeneo
- 12:45 - 13:30: Scene III: Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice
Lecture and masterclass will be both in English.
Entrance: free. Everyone (student and non-students) is welcome but the maximum capacity is limited.
