Christof Loy


Christof Loy is a sought-after opera director. His extremely detailed productions have been performed at the major opera houses and festivals in Europe, including ROH Covent Garden, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Theater an der Wien, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich and the Salzburger Festspiele.

In 2001, the German director was awarded the Musikpreis der Stadt Duisburg. In 2003, he also received a Laurence Olivier Award for Tristan und Isolde (ROH Covent Garden), and was voted director of the year by Opernwelt in 2003, 2004 and 2008. In 2017, he won an International Opera Award for best director. Recent opera productions include: Le nozze di Figaro (Bayerische Staatsoper), Maria Stuarda (Theater an der Wien), Das Wunder der Heliane (Deutsche Oper Berlin), Norma (Oper Frankfurt) en Euryanthe (Theater an der Wien).
