Sarah L. Kaufman is the Pulitzer Prizewinning dance critic and senior arts writer of the Washington Post, where she has covered fine arts, pop culture, sports, science and body language since 1993. Her book THE ART OF GRACE won a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Award and was a Washington Post Notable Book of 2015. Sarah Kaufman was the 2018 McGraw Professor of Writing at Princeton University and a visiting lecturer in Princeton’s Humanities Council. She serves on the National Critics Institute faculty at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center and has taught and lectured around the United States on dance and writing. Early in her career, she was a French-American Foundation Journalism Fellow, based in Paris. She has also lived and worked in Munich and Cannes, and served as a U.S. Senate page in Washington. Sarah Kaufman studied the Royal Academy of Dance method with Alan Woodard of the English National Ballet.
