Mexican-American tenor René Barbera won no fewer than three awards at the prestigious Operalia Competition in 2011, including the main prize. Since then, he has sung at leading opera houses such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera and the Paris Opera. His repertoire includes roles as Alfredo in La traviata, Il conte di Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Nadir in Les pêcheurs de perles and Percy in Anna Bolena. He has previously performed at Dutch National Opera as Il conte di Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia (2014).
