Marcelo Mourão Gomes
Brazilian Marcelo Mourão Gomes received his dance training in Florida, Paris, Houston, and Boston. In 1997, he joined the corps de ballet at American Ballet Theatre, where he was promoted to soloist in 2000 and principal dancer in 2002. He performed leading roles in nearly all major full-length ballets. After leaving in 2017, he danced as a guest artist with numerous other companies, including Dutch National Ballet.
In 2009, Alexei Ratmansky created the role of Sergei in his On the Dnieper specifically for Gomes. Gomes himself also choreographed several works for American Ballet Theatre and other international companies.
In the 2018-2019 season, Gomes made his debut with the Semperoper Ballett as Prince Siegfried in Aaron Watkins' Swan Lake. Two seasons later, he joined the company as a principal dancer and ballet master.
