Michael Breeden
Michael Sean Breeden began his dance training at the Lexington Ballet in Kentucky and continued his education at the School of American Ballet in New York. At Miami City Ballet, he performed soloist and principal roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Sir Frederick Ashton, Justin Peck, Antony Tudor, Twyla Tharp, Paul Taylor, and Alexei Ratmansky.
During his dance career, Breeden also gave interactive introductions for Miami City Ballet, enhancing the audience’s understanding of the programmed ballets. In 2016, he co-founded the podcast Conversations On Dance with fellow Miami City Ballet dancer Rebecca King Ferraro, which has since become one of the most listened-to dance podcasts.
Since 2018, Breeden has been a stager for New York City Ballet choreographer Justin Peck. He has rehearsed Peck’s work with the Hong Kong Ballet, Ballet Arizona, Indiana University, Princeton University, and Miami City Ballet. Breeden also teaches ballet at Yale University, Princeton, Kent State University, Mark Morris Dance Center, Ballet Academy East, Ballet Tech, and many other institutions. From 2017 to 2020, he also served as an assistant to the artistic director of Troy Schumacher’s BalletCollective.
