Dutch National Opera at KANTOR
The second edition of KANTOR will take place from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 November. The festival, which is held this year in De Sloot Office in Amsterdam Westpoort, was initiated in order to draw attention to unoccupied property, through a positive and creative programme of events. Both Dutch National Ballet and Dutch National Opera are taking part in this 'Music, Performance, Art & Technology Weekend'.

The Japanese designer Eiko Ishioka (1938-2012) designed the spectacular costumes for Wagner’s cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen, performed three times by Dutch National Opera between 1997 and 2014.

The graphic design duo Petrovsky & Ramone (Petra Van Bennekum and Morena Westerik) have worked for clients like Nike, Vogue, Glamour and Volkskrant Magazine. The duo is currently creating the face of Dutch National Opera & Ballet, through their campaign images for the website, posters and flyers.

Besides operas, he has also directed many plays starring great actresses like Cate Blanchett and Isabelle Huppert. He is the director of the famous opera La bohème, to be presented in Dutch National Opera & Ballet from 4 December. What approach is he taking to La bohème?
- Soprano Joyce El-Khoury sings arias from La bohème
Joyce El-Khoury was recently nominated for the Opera Award in the category Best Young Singer. The Canadian soprano has already won first prize at various international singing competitions. For KANTOR, she will be singing some arias from La bohème.

- Performances by young soloists
Hrafnhildur Árnadóttir, Zinzi Frohwein, Sidsel Aja Eriksen, Merlijn Runia and Chloë Schaaf were the Demoisselles d’honneur in the opera L’étoile, which was presented recently in Dutch National Opera & Ballet. These young singers from the Dutch National Opera Academy will sing various excerpts from L'étoile in costume.
