Olivier Py
In 1995, his production of La Servante caused a sensation at the Festival d’Avignon. He directed the Centre dramatique national d’Orléans and the Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe, and has directed the Festival d’Avignon since 2013. As an opera director, he has guested with the Grand Théâtre de Genève (Les contes d’Hoffmann, La damnation de Faust, Tristan und Isolde, Tannhäuser, Lulu and Manon), Opéra de Lyon (Curlew River and Carmen), Stanislavsky Opera Moscow (Pelléas et Mélisande), Opéra national de Paris (The Rake’s Progress, Mathis der Maler, Alceste and Aida), Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (Idomeneo), Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona (Lulu), Bayerische Staatsoper München (Il trovatore), Oper Köln (La forza del destino), Opéra national du Rhin (Ariane et Barbe-bleue, Pénélope and Salome), Deutsche Oper Berlin (Le prophète), Theater an der Wien (Der fliegende Holländer) and Theater Basel (Macbeth). For the Brusselse Munt, he has directed Les Huguenots, Hamlet, Dialogues des Carmélites, Lohengrin and La Gioconda.
