Iris van Wijnen

Dutch mezzo-soprano Iris van Wijnen studied at the Utrecht Conservatory and joined the Opera Studio of the Bayerische Staatsoper after her graduation. Since then, she has performed at Staatsoper Hannover, La Monnaie Brussels, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Bayerische Staatsoper München and the NTR ZaterdagMatinee at the Concertgebouw. Her repertoire includes roles such as Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, Gertrud in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Wellgunde in Das Rheingold and Wife/Doreen/Sphinx II/Waitress I in Mark-Anthony Turnage's Greek. With Dutch National Opera, Van Wijnen previously sang Rossweisse in Die Walküre (2019) and Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro (2020).
