Watch the beautiful soprano Julia Bullock sing an aria from Michel van der Aa's latest opera called Upload.
The production Upload is not a classical opera but a musical and visual tour de force in which musical theatre and contemporary digital techniques are interwoven. In the opera Upload, a man (father) undergoes the transformation from a living being to an immortal digital entity. He has a digital version of himself made, hoping this will make him happier. The daughter in Upload is confused about her father's decision to live as a digital upload, so she sings about the impossibility to grasp her father's new entity in the aria ‘This is where you are now’.
