Anneleen Bijnen
Anneleen Bijnen auditioned for a position with the permanent Chorus of Dutch National Opera in 1991, even before completing her final exams as a Performing Musician. She was accepted as a second alto, gaining the chance to immerse herself in the world of opera by learning from and observing some of the finest conductors, soloists, and directors. After a brief stint with the WDR Rundfunkchor in Cologne, Anneleen realised she missed the stage and returned to the Chorus of Dutch National Opera, where she thrives in diverse roles and characters across various productions.
In addition to her work with the Chorus, Anneleen has performed as a soloist with institutions such as the Staatstheater Stuttgart. She regularly sings oratorios both in the Netherlands and internationally, and presents song recitals with a versatile repertoire that spans from Bannink and Bublé to Bizet, Brahms, and Berg. At Dutch National Opera, she has portrayed numerous smaller roles, including in The Nightingale and Other Fables, Lohengrin, Tannhäuser, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Ercole amante, and Oedipe. Notably, she performed the role of Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly.
In April 2025, Anneleen will take on the role of the Third Servant in Richard Strauss’ Die Frau ohne Schatten.
