Ronald Aijtink
Ronald Aijtink received his singing education in his hometown Amsterdam by Margreet Honig. After his training he worked as a freelancer for various choirs, including the Collegium Vocale Gent and the Groot Omroepkoor.
From 1991, Ronald worked with Dutch National Opera as a member of the extra chorus and in 2004 he was given a permanent position. In addition to being a choir singer, he has been in great demand as an oratorio soloist. For example, he performed in the Passions of Bach and oratorios of Handel, Campra and Saint-Saëns.
In 2009 Ronald suffered a severe, life-threatening cerebral haemorrhage. Due to a concurrence of favourable conditions he survived a coma and several brain surgeries. The attitude and physique of a professional musician had a great influence on his recovery process. After a year of intensive rehabilitation, Ronald was able to resume his work as a member of the Chorus.
