Claudio Schellino
Claudio Schellino (1962) trained at the ballet school of the Teatro Nuovo Torino, in his hometown Turin, after which he joined Balletto Teatro di Torino. He then went on to dance with Company Danza Prospettiva and Nuovo Balletto di Roma.
After his dancing career, he trained as a ballet master with Teatro alla Scala in Milan, from 1994 to 1996, following which he took up the position of ballet master with Balletto Teatro di Torino. In 1997, he moved to Staatstheater Braunschweig, directed by Pierre Wyss. Four years later, he followed Wyss to Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, where Schellino became co-director and first ballet master. In 2003, he worked for Ballet de Zaragoza, in Spain, before joining the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken as a ballet master in 2004, where he also took on the role of interim artistic director in the 2013/2014 season.
Schellino is regularly invited as a guest teacher or to stage ballets as a ballet master. In this capacity, he has worked with Balletto di Toscana, Ballet Gulbenkian (Lisbon), Companhia Nacional de Bailado (Lisbon) and the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
Claudio Schellino began to assist Jeanette Vondersaar in 2012 and at present, he is co-stager for productions of The Green Table at ballet companies all over the world.
