Damiano Michieletto

Damiano Michieletto, from Italy, is seen as one of the leading opera directors of his generation. He has directed operas at Staatsoper Berlin, the Salzburger Festspiele, the Vienna State Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera in London and the Paris Opera, among others. In the 2024-2025 season, he will be working on new productions of Messiah (Komische Oper), La fille du régiment (Bayerische Staatsoper) and Betrothal in a Monastery (Theater an der Wien). At Dutch National Opera, he previously directed Il viaggio a Reims (2014), Rigoletto (2017) and Animal Farm (2023). 

In September 2024, Damiano Michieletto returns to direct Rigoletto, with a refreshed and refined version of his 2017 production.
