Erica Horwood

Erica Horwood (Ottawa, Canada) trained at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and Canada’s National Ballet School. In 2006, still as a dance student, she won the Erik Bruhn Prize. The following year, she joined Dutch National Ballet in the rank of aspirant. In 2009, she moved up to the corps de ballet, following which she was promoted to coryphée in 2011 and to grand sujet in 2012. Besides dancing main roles in Ton Simons’ Romance (awarded a ‘Zwaan’ for ‘Most impressive dance production’), Sasha Waltz’ Roméo et Juliette, John Neumeier’s La Dame aux Camélias and Hans van Manen’s Déjà vu and Trois gnoissennes, Erica has also appeared in the film Joika (2023) and in the film version of Coppelia (2021), in which she danced the title role. Meanwhile, she is also on the point of completing her studies in planetology and astronomy.
