Astrid van den Akker
Assistant director
Astrid van den Akker started working as a freelance assistant director, including for Dutch National Opera and the Nederlandse Reisopera, in 2000. She has had a permanent position at Dutch National Opera as assistant director since 2008. Here, she has worked with Pierre Audi (Tamerlano and Parsifal), Andrea Breth (Macbeth and De speler), Simon McBurney (Die Zauberflöte) and Barrie Kosky (Tosca, Turandot and Il trittico), among others. She took charge of the revivals of Turandot (directed by Nikolaus Lehnhoff), Parsifal (directed by Pierre Audi) and L‘amour des trois oranges (directed by Laurent Pelly), amongst others.
