Elena Schwarz
Swiss-Australian conductor Elena Schwarz is rapidly gaining a reputation for her musical vision, versatility and insightful interpretations. She is a regular guest conductor at orchestras such as the WDR Sinfonieorchester and the BBC Philharmonic. Widely admired for her advocacy of new music, Schwarz has conducted world premieres of works by Peter Eötvös and George Aperghis, and she works regularly with specialist contemporary ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien and many others. Her operatic work includes Hänsel und Gretel (Norwegian National Opera), Peer Gynt, Kát’a Kabanová (Opéra de Lyon), and The Sleeping Thousand by Adam Maor (Festival d’Aix-en-Provence).
