Emma Ryott
Emma Ryott works as a set and costume designer in opera, ballet, and theatre. Since 2003, she collaborated regularly with Christian Spuck. She was responsible for many of the costume designs of his opera stagings and they worked together on several of his ballets, including Lulu: Eine Monstretragödie, Anna Karenina, Romeo and Juliet, Orlando, Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern and Sonnett, based on William Shakespeare's sonnets with music by Philip Glass. Messa da Requiem, too, is one of the productions that emerged from their long-standing collaboration. She works regularly with director Keith Warner. Together they worked on productions such as Hindemith's Mathis der Maler at Theater an der Wien, Puccini's Manon Lescaut at English National Opera and Harbison's The Great Gatsby at Semperoper Dresden. She worked most recently on Roméo & Juliette for Malmö Opera, Der Ring des Nibelungen for Longborough Festival Opera and Spucks Monteverdi for Ballett Zürich.
