Astrid van den Akker
Astrid van den Akker (assistant director) studied French at d’Witte Lelie in Amsterdam. Since 2000, she has been working as a freelance assistant director for Dutch National Opera and De Nederlandse Reisopera, where she assisted with I due Foscari (director Monique Wagemakers), Nabucco (director Tim Albery) and Boris Godoenov (director Robert Lehmeier). With Dutch National Opera, she has worked on La Juive, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria and Tamerlano (director Pierre Audi), L’amour des trois oranges (director Laurent Pelly), De zaak Makropulos (director Ivo van Hove), After Life (director Michel van der Aa) and Boris Godoenov (director Willy Decker).
Astrid van den Akker was appointed assistant director with Dutch National Opera in 2008. Since then, she has worked on productions like Roméo et Juliette (director Olivier Py), Het Sluwe Vosje (director Richard Jones) and Platée (directors Nigel Lowery and Amir Hosseinpour). She was rehearsal director for Turandot (director Nikolaus Lehnhoff) and L‘amour des trois oranges (director Laurent Pelly). Recently, she has been working with the directors Simon McBurney (Die Zauberflöte), David Alden (Deidamia and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) and Andrea Breth (De Speler).
