Gregory Caers
Gregory Caers (1975) is a theatre director who specialises in bringing together both seasoned professionals and enthusiastic non-professional actors across the realms of theatre and opera. His work focuses on the intersection of theatre, dance, and mime: Caers weaves tapestries of imagination using abstract forms and kinetic narratives. Exuding a raw, unfiltered aesthetic, his work resonates deeply with the vibrancy of youth. The narratives he constructs appeal to younger audiences, and invite a dynamic exchange of emotions and ideas. Caers collaborates with renowned theatres and opera houses in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.
Director Gregory Caers will once again be in the Opera Forward Festival (OFF). After offbeat productions with students in previous editions of OFF, in 2025 he will be working with a large group of young people from Rotterdam’s vocational theatre school, two Amsterdam student choirs (VU-Koor and Studentenkoor Amsterdam) and other students from (art) colleges around the Netherlands.
