John-Paul Percox

Lighting designer

The British lighting designer and technician John-Paul Percox worked at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, from 1994 to 2019, first as a theatre technician and then as a member of the project team, becoming manager of the team in 2013. As part of the project team, he contributed to around two hundred productions by The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet, working with lighting designers such as Giuseppe Di Iorio (Morgen und Abend), Mimi Jordan Sherin (Ann Nicole), Bruno Poet (Don Giovanni) and Lucy Carter (Obsidian Tear, Chroma). He also toured with both companies to theatres all over the world, including the Metropolitan Opera House, in New York, and the Bolshoi Theatre, in Russia.

In 2019, Percox started his career as a freelance lighting designer. Since then, he has worked for Houston Grand Opera, Opéra National Bordeaux, the Oslo Opera House, Teatr Wielki Opera Narodowa, the National Theatre in Prague, the Hungarian State Opera’s Eiffel Arts Studio and the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, among others.
