Jonathan Bonny
Jonathan Bonny studied classical percussion and composition at the School of Arts in Ghent and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He continued his studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where he specialised in ensemble percussion. As a percussionist he played with Slagwerk Den Haag, AskolSchönberg, Blindman [Drums], Ensemble KLANG, Club Guy & Roni, Orkater and Silbersee. His compositions have been performed by the Spectra Ensemble, Lunapark, Casco Phil, the Koninklijke Muziekkapel van de Marine and DeCompagnie. Jonathan wrote the music for theatre performances by Teddy's Last Ride, MoON Productions, Boost Productions, PeerGroup, Silbersee and the VPRO. JÓRMA (they/their) is Jonathan's art pop alter ego. With the support of talent development project Station Noord, JÓRMA is developing a unique signature that combines music and pop culture with theatre, performance art and a sense of activism. JÓRMA advocates vulnerability and empathy and aims to get as close to their audience as possible. From that connection, they want to reflect together on social themes such as gender, mental health and inequality.
