Lighting designer

The British K.J is a lighting designer for theatre, dance, opera, and live performance art. K.J studied at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London and is a member of the Association of Lighting Production and Design (ALPD). In 2020, K.J completed the ALPD Lumière Scheme 20:20, a programme for emerging lighting technicians and designers.

Recently, K.J designed the lighting for Black Sabbath – the Ballet by Birmingham Royal Ballet, which was staged last June at the Nieuwe Luxor Theater in Rotterdam. Furthermore, K.J has collaborated with choreographers such as Tony Adigun (for Illegal Dance, which was performed last January at the Holland Dance Festival), Miguel Altunaga, Joss Arnott, Pontus Lidberg, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. K.J's theatre lighting designs have been featured in theatres across the United Kingdom and the United States. In 2023, K.J worked as an assistant lighting designer for the music theatre piece The Faggots and their Friends Between Revolutions by Philip Venables and Ted Hufman. K.J will take on a similar role for the family show Coming to England by Birmingham Rep, which premieres in 2025.
