Kwamé Ryan
Kwamé Ryan was born in Canada and grew up in Trinidad, where he began his music education at an early age. He completed his studies in the United Kingdom and Hungary, where he studied musicology at Cambridge University and conducting with Peter Eötvös. From 1999 to 2003, Ryan held the position of general music director of Freiburg Opera, Germany, and from 2007 to 2013, he served as musical and artistic director of the Orchestre National Bordeaux-Aquitaine in France. As a guest conductor in Germany, he has conducted the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and the State Operas of Stuttgart and Saarbrücken, among others, and in France he has worked at Opera de la Bastille, Opera de Lyon and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Ryan has also conducted frequently in the United States and the United Kingdom and has been a regular guest with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. He has won several international awards for outstanding work in the field of music education.
