Lotte Boonstra

Lotte Boonstra works as a theatre designer and visual artist. As costume designer and scenographer, Lotte works for Inne Goris, 4hoog, Het Kwartier, Theater Artemis, Theater FroeFroe, Krapp and Compagnie de Kolifokkers, among others.  She prefers to work closely with the actors and makers during the creation process. Her autonomous work resides in the interface between theatre and visual art, where costume and the human body are always the starting point. In 2019 she created the performance Mensen dragen dingen at Over 't IJ-festival in Amsterdam, in which she explored the human being in all his wearing appearances. Her work is social, formal, absurdist and has a high degree of materiality. As a theatre designer, she strives to integrate her visual qualities into the dramaturgy of the performance.
