Marc Albrecht
Marc Albrecht is internationally renowned for his interpretation of works by late-romantic composers as Wagner, Mahler and Richard Strauss, as well as lesser-known composers such as Zemlinsky and Schreker. Besides guest conductorships with, among others, the Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Philharmoniker and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, he led the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg from 2006 to 2011. From 2011 to 2020 he was chief conductor of Dutch National Opera and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2019 Marc Albrecht was named Conductor of the Year at the International Opera Awards. In 2020 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion. With DNO, he has conducted operas such as Die Walküre, Die Frau ohne Schatten, Elektra, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Die Zauberflöte, Gurre-Lieder, Macbeth, Der Rosenkavalier, Hänsel und Gretel, Don Giovanni, Parsifal, Wozzeck, Eine florentinische Tragödie/Gianni Schicchi, Tristan und Isolde and Oedipe.
In season 2024-2025, Marc Albrecht returns to Dutch National Opera for the musical direction of Die Frau ohne Schatten.
