Maria Lamont
Canadian opera director Maria Lamont began her career as an actor, but quickly gained experience as a director's assistant and in rehearsing the direction of existing productions. In recent years she has held these positions at various international opera houses, including Théâtre du Châtelet, Opéra national du Rhin, Opera Vlaanderen, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the prestigious La Scala in Milan. Previously, she directed Gian Carlo Menotti's The boy who grew too fast at Dutch National Opera and directed Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro in the heart of the corona pandemic. She regularly works with director Robert Carsen and breathes new life into his productions all over the world. In 2022 she did that for Carmen at DNO.
