Michael Küster
Michael Küster studied German, Art history and Speech Sciences at the University of Halle. He worked as a moderator, author, and presenter for several radio stations in Germany where he presented a variety of classical programmes and live broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Semperoper Dresden and the Leipzig Gewandhaus. Since 2002, he has worked as a dramaturge at Opernhaus Zürich. As dramaturge of Ballett Zürich since 2012, he has worked with choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, William Forsythe, Marco Goecke and especially Christian Spuck. Together they have worked on numerous productions, including Romeo and Juliet, Winterreise, Messa da Requiem, Sleeping Beauty, and Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern. Michael Küster has a close artistic partnership with the German director Matthias Hartmann. Their collaborations include Rusalka, Carmen and Mathis der Maler in Zürich as well as Pique Dame, Idomeneo and Der Freischütz at La Scala in Milan.
