Alexander Álvarez finalist for the Young Creation Award 2024
Junior Company dancer Alexander Álvarez is one of the finalists for the Young Creation Award 2024. On 1 January 2024, Álvarez will present his solo choreography, Hollow, to the Prix de Lausanne jury.
The Young Creation Award, an initiative by Prix de Lausanne, encourages young choreographers to create their own solo works. The main goals of the Young Creation Award are to discover new talent, provide a unique experience for aspiring choreographers, award artistry in a positive and constructive competitive atmosphere, and encourage the imagination and creativity of young dancers to become aware of the art and technique of choreography.
Álvarez has distinguished himself as one of the five finalists from an impressive total of 55 submissions. On 1 January 2024, which takes place parallel with the Prix de Lausanne, he will present his choreography to the Prix de Lausanne jury. The same evening, the two winning choreographies will be awarded and performed again during the Interlude performance on Saturday 3 February 2024, after the Prix de Lausanne Finals. The two winning works will become part of the contemporary variation repertoire for future candidates as part of the Prix de Lausanne 2025.
