They reflect on their love, and remarkable career highlights, including their strong friendship with choreographer Hans van Manen and partnership with Russian dance icon Rudolf Nureyev. They also look to the future, with spectators seeing the superstars actively working with promising young dancers who may receive a support grant to help them develop their talent.
Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar
At Van Dantzig’s invitation, Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar joined Dutch National Ballet as principals in the 1970/1971 season, after dancing for two years with the renowned American Ballet Theatre. Radius had previously danced with the Nederlands Ballet, switching to Nederlands Dans Theater in 1959, where she got to know Ebbelaar. After their return from the US, they go on to become the most famous dance couple ever in the Netherlands. At their 20th anniversary as a dance couple, Radius and Ebbelaar set up the foundation Stichting Dansersfonds ’79, which is still encouraging, honouring and supporting Dutch dancers today.
