Dutch National Ballet celebrates World Ballet Day 2022
Today, Wednesday, 2 November, is World Ballet Day. Fifty renowned companies from all over the world celebrate the art of dance with you and give you a unique insight into their ballet studios. Dutch National Ballet is also contributing to World Ballet Day with a special online program.
To celebrate World Ballet Day, Dutch National Ballet allows an exclusive behind-the-scenes look by streaming a ballet class of the entire company, during which the dancers are coached by ballet master Larisa Lezhnina. This ‘full company class’ will be followed by a performance by principals Olga Smirnova and Victor Caixeta. They will dance a pas de deux from The Sleeping Beauty, also coached by Larisa Lezhnina. The ‘full company class’ and rehearsal will be available online at 4 pm today.
During this ninth edition of World Ballet Day, Dutch National Ballet also kicks off a brand new series of online ballet classes for beginning ballet dancers. The first class within this series will be posted online this afternoon after the ‘full company class’ and rehearsal stream. In the next five weeks, a new ballet lesson will become available on YouTube weekly.
