Dutch National Ballet featured twice during Nederlandse Dansdagen
This past weekend, Dutch National Ballet performed twice during the Nederlandse Dansdagen (Dutch Dance Days) in Maastricht: on Friday, 4 October, at the Nederlands Dansdagen Gala, which opened the festival, and on Saturday, 5 October, together with ISH Dance Collective during the Meesterwerken (Masterpieces) programme.
During the Gala on Friday, five dancers from Dutch National Ballet performed Toccata by the Polish choreographer Krzysztof Pastor. Earlier this year, this piece was already showcased during the touring program Ten, which celebrated the ten-year anniversary of the Junior Company of Dutch National Ballet. Besides Dutch National Ballet, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Fractal Collective, Danstheater AYA, and choreographer Maciej Kuźmiński — in collaboration with the Ukraine Foundation — also contributed to the Gala.
On Saturday, 5 October, Soshi Suzuki, an élève with Dutch National Ballet, performed together with ISH dancer Lars de Vos in De Vos’s choreography Burden. The piece was part of the Meesterwerken programme, in which Dutch National Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, Introdans, and Scapino Ballet Rotterdam came together on one stage.
