Floor Eimers wins Alexandra Radius Prize
Dutch ballerina Floor Eimers, soloist at Dutch National Ballet, has won the Alexandra Radius Prize. Alexandra Radius handed over the award herself at the premiere of Mata Hari at Dutch National Opera & Ballet on Thursday 14 October.
The jury consisted of the following well-known names in the ballet world: Alexandra Radius (former principal dancer at Dutch National Ballet), Caroline Sayo Iura (former principal dancer and ballet master of the Junior Company), Astrid van Leeuwen (dance journalist), Frederik Redelé (member of the ballet commission) and Stella Noach (friend of Dutch National Ballet). According to them, Floor won the price because of her exquisite qualities as a dancer: "throughout the years, Floor has evolved into an extremely skilled dancer with enormous physical power, remarkable technical talent and an expressive theatre personality. Moreover, she is a true ambassador of the Dutch dance world off stage, as a member of the Comité van Aanbeveling van Stichting Kunst in Beweging and Stichting Dansersfonds ’79 and as one of the founders of Dans Talenten Fonds.
The Alexandra Radius Prize entails € 3000,- and a piece of art, bequeathed by designer and illustrator Humprhey Bennett. The prize is awarded by Vrienden van het Nationale Ballet.
