Ottavio Dantone
The Italian Ottavio Dantone is a harpsichord player and conductor. He studied at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan and became known as one of the most influential harpsichord players of his generation soon after completing his studies. He won prizes at important competitions in Paris and Bruges. Since 1989 he has worked with the Accademia Bizantina and he was appointed as the ensembe’s Music Director in 1996. Under his leadership, the ensemble gained global recognition and performed in concert halls and opera houses around the world. Apart from the Accademia Bizantina, Dantone has conducted various orchestras including Staatskapelle Berlin, Orchestre national de France, Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala and the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, in both concert performances and opera.
- From 13 to 28 January 2024, Ottavio Dantone leads the Accademia Bizantina in the opera Agrippina, to be seen at Dutch National Opera.
