Robert Carsen
With Dutch National Opera, the Canadian director Robert Carsen has staged Dialogues des Carmélites, Fidelio, Carmen and Falstaff. Carsen has worked with Teatro all Scala in Milan, De Munt in Brussels, English National Opera, Metropolitan Opera New York and Opéra National de Paris. He also worked as a designer and artistic director of exhibitions about Marie-Antoinette (Grand Palais) and the life and work of Charles Garnier (École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts), and exhibitions on the themes of Bohemians (Grand Palais) and Fashion & Impressionism (Musée d’Orsay). Opera: Don Giovanni (La Scala), The Turn of the Screw (Theater an der Wien), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Aix-en-Provence), Pique dame (Zürich), Ariadne auf Naxos (München), L’incoronazione di Poppea and Rinaldo (Glyndebourne), Iphigénie en Tauride (Chicago, San Francisco, ROH Covent Garden, Madrid), La traviata (Venice), Der Ring des Nibelungen (Köln, Venice, Shanghai, Barcelona). With Opéra national de Paris he directed Tannhäuser, Alcina, Les contes d’Hoffmann, Rusalka, Capriccio and Die Zauberflöte. Recently: Falstaff (ROH Covent Garden, MET New York, La Scala), Singin’ in the Rain and My Fair Lady (Théâtre du Châtelet), Platée and Les Fêtes Vénitiennes (Opéra Comique).
