Robert Wierzel

Robert Wierzel is an American lighting designer who has worked with artists from the most diverse disciplines and backgrounds in theatre, dance, opera, contemporary music and museums around the world. He is also known for his designs for regional theatres in the United States. Since 1985, he has worked closely with choreographer and director Bill T. Jones, with whom he has created many special productions. Wierzel has many awards to his name: he received the American Theatre Wing Lighting Design Award, among others, and was nominated for the award of Best Lighting Design in a Musical in 2010. Besides his work as a designer, Wierzel also teaches in the graduate programme for lighting design at New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
