Simon Machabeli

Georgian costume designer Simon Machabali works for theater and film and as a fashion designer. After studying in Georgia, he studied at Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design in London. In addition to his work on a number of Georgian and international films and his work in the theater, he also creates work for catwalk shows. He is inspired by Georgian religious and sacred costumes and rituals. Since 2015 he has been collaborating with the Fashion Week in Tbilisi. He collaborated extensively with director Andriy Zholdak on his opera work, including for the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Theater Freiburg, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence and Opéra de Lyon.
