Simon McBurney
Actor, writer and director Simon McBurney founded the theatre collective Complicite in 1983 in London. His work varies from location theatre to Broadway productions, and is often based on classical texts and music. He has worked with musicians and conductors such as Peter Maxwell Davies, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Sir Simon Rattle, Tom Waits, Nitin Sawhney, Pet Shop Boys and Honjoh Hidetaro. As an actor McBurney worked on films such as The Theory of Everything, Magic in the Moonlight, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. His opera work includes Wozzeck (Festival d’Aix-en-Provence) and a concert performance of Weill’s Die sieben Todsünden (Los Angeles Philharmonic). For Dutch National Opera he previously directed A Dog’s Heart, The Rake’s Progress and Die Zauberflöte, productions that were brought to English National Opera in London and the Metropolitan Opera in New York after their Dutch premiere
