Simon Stone

Australian Simon Stone is one of the most acclaimed theatre and opera directors in the international circuit. He is best known for his contemporary adaptations of classical texts, which he strips to their essence to place the moral dilemmas and themes within a contemporary context. His theatre work includes Phaedra (National Theatre), Yerma (Young Vic), Ibsen Huis, Medea, Flight 49 (International Theatre Amsterdam), The Greek Trilogy (Berliner Ensemble) and many others. His opera work includes, among others, Lear, Médée (Salzburger Festspiele), Die tote Stadt (Theater Basel, Bayerische Staatsoper), Lucia di Lammermoor (Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera), and La traviata (Opéra National de Paris).
