Bass Gennady Bezzubenkov’s recent appearances of note include the roles of Doctor and Newspaper Clerk in Shostakovich’s The Nose (Bayerische Staatsoper Munich), Bertrand in Iolanta (Opéra National de Paris Bastille and Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia), Old Convict in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (Opéra National de Lyon and Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona), Stalin in the world premiere of Raskatov’s GerMANIA (Opéra National de Lyon), and Doctor in The Nose (Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Metropolitan Opera New York and Opéra National de Lyon). At Dutch National Opera, Bezzubenkov sang the roles of Gusli Player in The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh (2012) and Big Boss, Fyodor and Newspaper Boy in A Dog’s Heart (2017).
