Gyula Orendt
The Hungarian baritone Gyula Orendt was a member of Staatsoper Berlin’s Opera Studio and he has since sung such major roles as Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Zurga in Les pêcheurs de Perles, Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia and the title role in Der Kaiser von Atlantis. In Berlin, he has worked with leading conductors such as Daniel Barenboim and Sir Simon Rattle. He has also sung at other preeminent opera houses including the Royal Opera in London, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Teatro Liceu in Barcelona, as well as the festivals of Glyndebourne and Aix-en-Provence. Orchestral collaborations include the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. He recently made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Kirill Petrenko. At Dutch National Opera, he previously sang the role of Gaveston/Stranger in Lessons in Love and Violence (2018).
