American-Puerto Rican tenor Ian Castro received his master's degree from the prestigious Juilliard School in New York in 2021. Since the 2021-2022 season, he has been part of the Dutch National Opera Studio, on a scholarship from the New York Opera Foundation. Previously, he sang the roles of Gastone in Verdi's La traviata, Signor Hervey in Donizetti's Anna Bolena, Le Remendado in Bizet's Carmen and the role of Prince Nicola/Heggenschaarhuzaar in Steef de Jong's production Operetta Land. He also regularly performs in the various concerts given by members of the Dutch National Opera Studio.
