James Creswell
American bass James Creswell studied at Yale University and started his career in the training programs of Los Angeles Opera and San Francisco Opera. After this he was a soloist at the Komische Oper Berlin. His repertoire is broad and covers roles from Handel and Mozart to Berg, Enescu and Janáček. He sang in opera houses such as the Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Teatro Real Madrid, Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Opéra national de Paris, Staatsoper Berlin and the Theater an der Wien. Creswell can also regularly be seen on the concert stage. For example, he sang the role of Farmer in Schönberg's Gurre-Lieder with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra and the Bergen Philharmonic. At Dutch National Opera he previously sang the roles of Erster Nazarener in Salome (2017), Il Marchese di Calatrava in La forza del destino (2017) and Phorbas in Oedipe (2018).
