J'Nai Bridges
American mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges is known for her rich, dark and exciting voice and is on her way to becoming one of the most sought-after talents of her generation. Among her career highlights are her debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Nefertiti in Philip Glass' opera Akhnaten, her sold-out recital debut at Carnegie Hall and her debut in the role of Delila in Camille Saint-Saëns’ opera Samson et Dalila at the Washington National Opera. In 2019, she made her debut at the San Francisco Opera as Carmen in Georges Bizet's well-known opera. The role of Carmen would eventually become one of her signature roles: she has already sung this role at various opera houses, most recently at the Palm Beach Opera.
At Dutch National Opera, Bridges made her debut in 2019 as well. Back then, she originated the role of Josefa Segovia for the world premiere of John Adams’ Girls of the Golden West. In season 2020/21, she returned to Dutch National Opera as one of the soloists in Donizetti Queens in Concert. In season 2022/23, she opened the opera season as Carmen. Later that season she will also sing this role at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Canadian Opera Company.
