Makudu Senaoana
South African tenor Makudu Senaoana started his musical career at the Drakensberg Boys Choir School. He then continued his studies at the South African College of Music and the University of Cape Town under the guidance of Professor Kamal Khan and Hanna van Niekerk. Under the mentorship of Josef Protschka, the young tenor won the Johannesburg International Mozart's Festival, earning him an international study award to continue his studies in Germany.
Meanwhile, he is steadily creating a furore in Europe and North America. He has a long-standing collaboration with director William Kentridge. This season, they will tour together through South Africa and the east coast of the United States of America with the performance The Head and the Load - a cross-border story about Africans in the First World War. He will also be heard this season as Madwoman in Benjamin Britten's Curlew River at Cape Town Opera. How ANANSI freed the stories of the world would be his debut at Dutch National Opera.
