Maria Bengtsson

Swedish soprano Maria Bengtsson performs on the world's major international stages and is particularly celebrated for her interpretations of Mozart and Strauss roles. Her repertoire includes such roles as La Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Gräfin in Strauss' Capriccio, Blanche in Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites and Ellen Orford in Britten's Peter Grimes. Bengtsson is also well versed in contemporary repertoire. She created the title role in the world premiere of Detlev Glanert's Oceane (Deutsche Oper Berlin, 2019) and the role of Clara in the world premiere of Christian Jost's Egmont (Theater an der Wien, 2020).
