Michael Wilmering

Dutch baritone Michael Wilmering is at home in opera, song and oratorio, performing in cities such as Paris, Ravenna, Rijeka, Stuttgart and Luxembourg. His repertoire includes roles such as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Ramiro in L'heure espagnole and Junior in Leonard Bernstein's A Quiet Place. Besides repertory roles, he enjoys singing new compositions. He also collaborated with choreographer Peter Leung and director Monique Wagemakers on his self-conceived performance Grenze(n)loos with dancer Ahmad Joudeh, who fled from Syria, and Japanese pianist Kanako Inoue. In 2019, he received an Award from Operadagen Rotterdam for this creation. At Dutch National Opera, he sang the title role in Denis & Katya, Fürst Ottokar + Kilian in Der Freischütz and Le Dancaïre in Carmen, among others.
